"So long, stink-year!" or "Goodbye 2010"

The year of our Lord, two thousand and ten, has come and gone, and we must not mourn the loss of another year, but celebrate the great things that came out over the previous 12 months. The following is a list of my 5 favorite things from 2010. Enjoy:

5. MacGruber - I loved the MacGruber sketches on SNL, and thought it was one of the best things they had come up with on the show in recent years. The movie, although not quite the same as the TV sketches, was hilarious and surprising. And they really caught me off guard. Hands down, the best comedy of the year. Thanks, Will Forte!

4. Comic Con! - 2010 marked my first year of a long awaited dream to attend San Diego's famed Comic Con, the largest comic book convention in the United States. It was a giant flea market for nerds, and although I didn't see any celebrities or sit in on any of the panels, I still had a great time, and geeked out plenty. Thanks, Comic Con.

3. SNL is cool again - For too long, we have gone through highs and lows with Saturday Night Live, but in 2010, they have risen to the top, again making me not ashamed to utter the phrase "I saw SNL last night". And I thank them for that.

2. Inception - For a simple country boy like me, who loves movies, it was very special to have one of my favorite movies of all time come out last year. Inception remains my favorite movie of 2010, and has nuzzled it's way into my "favorite movies of all time" list. Thank you, Chris Nolan.

1. The collapse and triumphant return of Conan O'Brien - Comparing his comeback to that of a Phoenix rising from the ashes, would be an understatement. I have been a Conan O'Brien fan for as long as I can remember watching TV late at night (thanks be to my brother, Chris, who already had 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' on), and I was behind him all the way throughout his firing from NBC, his 'Legally Prohibited' Tour to 32 states, and his return to late night television on TBS. And thanks to NBC, he's now bigger than ever. So to all who screwed him (with a special shout-out to Jay Leno), thank you for making Conan a superstar!

Don't cry for me...

Unrelated to the holidays, I made a short film (if I may be so bold as to call it a "film") adapted from a video my Australian cousin made a few years ago about the emotional rollercoaster that ensues after you inadvertently spill milk, and what (or more specifically what not) to do immediately afterwards. It may be viewed below, or on my Youtube channel. Enjoy!

P.S. Happy Boxing day!

Merry Nickmas 2010

24 Dec 2010 by Nick | 15:30 PST

Christmas is a time of year to reconnect with friends, family, and cherished loved ones. It is also a time to fight off robot Santa who thinks everyone is naughty and is on a murderous rampage, but let's just focus on the good stuff.

I'm not going home for Xmas this year, so I want to wish all of my friends and family a wonderful holiday celebration. And also a sincere apology for my newest holiday card, which I'm sure most people will not be displaying on the fridge or mantle. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Naked Launch

21 Dec 2010 by Nick | 03:00 PST

Assuming that the rest of the world actually cares what I have to say, I've launched (what feels like the 50th incarnation) of ntbone.com, which is the website that shows you what no other website does: me. My works, my projects, my thoughts, my nudie shots... okay, not that last one (well, some of my holiday cards are questionable). But in a nutshell, this website will be updated with all things Nick.

It may be arrogant to say, but I do some things that are pretty unique. I make holiday cards, which are a pretty hot commodity among my friends. I make fan posters (and on occasion, trailers) for movies that I like. And I do some things on the side, such as make my own films and graphic design work as well. So let this website be a vessel to bring you all things... that... you... come here to see. That is all.
